$1000 FEATHR Scholarship.

Arc+ID students,

Commencing in 2017, wallpaper and fabric house FEATHR will be awarding a yearly $1000 scholarship to a current or prospective arts, performing arts, humanities or design student at an accredited United States university or college.  The scholarship will be awarded based upon an essay submission, answering the following question: “How and why has a piece of art influenced your personal, educational and/or creative development.”

To apply for the FEATHR Wallpaper Scholarship, answer the question:

“How and why has a piece of art influenced your personal, educational and/or creative development.”

Tell us about what the piece of art was, where you encountered and what its impact has been, in the short and long term.

Requirements

Essays must be 700-1000 words long, answering the question: “How and why has a piece of art influenced your personal, educational and/or creative development.”

For the purposes of this scholarship, we define art as being the visual arts, including for example: ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video, filmmaking and architecture.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the FEATHR Wallpaper Scholarship, you must be:

  • a legal U.S. Resident

  • either a current undergraduate college/university student or a current high school student that will enroll in a college/university in 2017

  • studying an arts, performing arts, humanities or design-based subject

  • in good academic standing with your current educational institution

You must provide proof of enrollment and subject with your email submission.  This can take the form of a digital scan of your acceptance letter, a letter from admissions or digital copy email/letter from your tutor or course leader confirming your presence on the course.

Submission & DeadlinesSubmissions for the 2017 scholarship award must be received by 1 December 2017.  Submissions after this deadline will not be considered.

All entries must be submitted to submit@feathr.com.

Email your entry as a Word document or PDF attachment.  In the email, include your full name, age, postal address and contact mobile number.  Please also include a headshot in either PNG or JPG format.

Summer 2017 begins June 26th.

Arc+ID Students and future Arc+ID students.

The 2017 UCLA Extension Summer Quarter begins on June 26th.  Classes are filling up fast.  Don’t get stuck on the wait-list.  The 2017 Spring Quarter officially ends June 24th (for some of you Finals were last week so CONGRATS on finishing!!)

Winter Quarter Elective: A Survey of the Decorative Arts

Tuesdays from 6:30PM to 9:30PM.
Jan 10, 2017 to Mar 28, 2017

Course Description

The fundamentals of understanding and appreciating the decorative arts are explored in this intensive course, which provides a basic historical understanding of forms and social forces, as well as an enhanced awareness of styles. Topics include traditional techniques and innovations utilized by artisans on a range of media (wood, silver, ceramics, etc.). Basic connoisseurship is touched upon to encourage a more discerning eye and greater enjoyment of the objects with which we live. This course covers decorative arts from ancient Egypt to the Industrial Revolution. Prerequisite: X 427.8A and X 427.8B History of Environmental Arts: Parts I and II. Enrollment limited. This course is equivalent to Cal Poly Pomona INA 661. This is a required course in the Master of Interior Architecture degree program. Internet access required to retrieve course materials.
