2×8 Opening Night

Represent. This Thursday night, UCLA Extension is honored to have a team representing our school in AIA_LA’s 2×8 exhibition of student work. It’s part of AIA LA’s scholarship competition. Be there for the opening/party and announcement of winners on the streets of DTLA at the plaza at The Bloc. Eleven other schools are competing, so #support. And (of course) check out how our students interpreted the competition theme.

NEWH, Inc. is offering the $5,000 NEWH Harvey Nudelman scholarship sponsored by Fabricut
Contract & FR One and open to students pursuing a career objective in hospitality Interior Design.
The scholarship sponsor and recipient will be honored on during HD Expo on May 2, 2018 in Las
Vegas, Nevada. The scholarship recipient is required to attend the awards event (travel and
lodging provided). Applications must be received by December 4th, 2017.

Qualifying Criteria:

Enrolled student attending an accredited college/program

Must have completed half your total required credits/units/hours (undergrad degree) or be a graduate student

3.0 GPA (cumulative) or overall “B” average or grade percentage of 83% – 86% equivalent

Have financial need through college for current/upcoming tuition or program approved books/supplies

Major and career objective within hospitality: Interior Design only

NEHL Scholarship Opportunity.

NEWH, Inc. is offering the 5th annual NEWH Product Design Competition $4,000 scholarship sponsored by Symmons. The scholarship is open to Interior Design or Architecture students and includes submission of a lavatory faucet design. The winning student will be honored May 2, 2018 at HD Expo in Las Vegas.

 

Scholarship Criteria:

Must be a currently enrolled student attending an accredited college

Must have completed half the requirements/credits for an undergraduate degree or be enrolled in a graduate program

Must show financial need and have eligible outstanding debt for tuition, books or supplies at time of scholarship award in May 2018

Must have 3.0 cumulative GPA or a current overall grade percentage of 83 – 86% or B average equivalent

Must be pursuing a career objective in Hospitality Interior

Design or Architecture

Winner must attend the awards event at HD Expo May 2, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada with airfare/lodging provided

Scholarship submission deadline is January 2nd, 2018.

Green Voice Design Competition.

The NEWH Green Voice Design Competition provides students with the opportunity to showcase their design skills while utilizing the very best in sustainable design products and practices. Our sponsors have generously donated the awards – one to the winning undergraduate student and one to the winning graduate student with airfare/lodging to the awards event at HD Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada provided.

Eligibility

  • Interior Design or Architecture students; undergraduate (in a 4-year program) or graduate students (must be enrolled in an accredited college).

  • Students (2) may work together on a team submission (splitting the $7,500 scholarship if awarded); each student receiving paid airfare and lodging to the awards event.

  • Instructors may use competition as a class project evaluating all class projects and submit no more than (5) top projects for consideration (a submittal form must be included with each project).

2017 Cloth & Co + Dwell on Design Textile to Furniture Competition.

Cloth & Co. is seeking creative, up and coming artists to produce a textile fabric design. The initial textile will need to be designed specifically to produce into one of Cloth & Co.’s concept chairs.

Qualifications:

Cloth & Co. is seeking creative, up and coming artists to produce a textile fabric design. Entrants should have 5 or less years’ experience in design and/or be a current student of architecture, design or art.

Deadline is June 7th.

LBC-LA Collaborative: Student Competition 2017

LBC-LA Collaborative are hosting a student competition this year to come up with a design plan for a Pavilion at the potential Los Angeles World Fair in 2022.  “LAWF is presenting the first ever Cityscape Fairground! Distinctive pavilions and urban settings will be spread throughout Los Angeles County, located near and accessed by various metro stops along the transit system. The plans are specifically designed to encourage a grand scale transition from a car dependent culture to widespread adoption of mass transit. The theme of the fair is “LA: The Connected City; A World Connected and seeks to do it on every level from the physical to the cultural.  The unprecedented layout encourages city wide connection like never before! Most importantly, we’re all about the community of LA. The World’s Fair will provide a platform for all sectors of Los Angeles to prosper.  Our aim is to re-purpose all the fair pavilions to benefit our communities.”

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Contestants must be enrolled at a college or university.
  • Students from multidisciplinary subjects such as architecture, agriculture, business administration, real estate development, urban planning, building science, material science, engineering, product design, public policy, historic preservation, or environmental studies are encouraged to participate and form integrated teams.
  • Teams must be at least two (2) and no more than five (5) students and one (1) adviser/professor.

  • The fixture must be designed within the past year and while the entrant is a student.
  • A faculty member at the student’s school must sponsor the application.

17th Annual SoCal Student Lighting Competition – Register Today!

You’re invited to join us for the 17th Annual SoCal Student Lighting Competition!

This year the Design Lighting Forum (DLF) challenges lighting, interior design, architecture, or engineering students to design and build a children’s bedside table lamp utilizing two different lamps for a high and low setting.

Entry into this competition is free – but limited to students currently enrolled in a design program. There are over $4,000 in cash money prizes available for the winning projects. Be sure to download the competition brochure, and then head on over the registration page to enter the competition.

Durkan D*SCOVER Design Competition 2015 – Now Accepting Entries!

It’s time again to show off your design skills for the annual Durkan D*SCOVER design competitionDurkan has partnered with NEWH to bring a unique members-only opportunity. In lieu of entry fees, you simply must be a student member of NEWH.

The Grand Prize for this competition is a $2,500 NEWH scholarship from Durkan and a trip to Las Vegas for the HD Expo show to receive award. Second Place will receive $1000 and a trip to Las Vegas for the HD Expo show to receive award. Third Place receives $500, Fourth Place receives $300, and the Fifth Place contestant receives $200. All winning student designs will be on display at the Durkan booth. Durkan will promote and catalog winning designs.

Durkan Design Competition 2015
