UCLA Extension Alumni: Sheldon Nemoy will be a guest speaker at this year’s UCLA Alumni Day on May 16th, 2015!

UCLA and UCLA Extension Alumni are getting together on May 16th to share an amazing afternoon filled with entertainment and surprise with family and friends. Explore the ways in which campus continues to transform. Get inspired by an extraordinary alumni panel, which by following their passion, change lives everyday. Celebrate fellow Bruins who are revolutionizing their communities and industries at the UCLA Awards ceremony. Settle in, as day fades into evening, on Wilson Plaza. Enjoy a sumptuous meal, entertainment and camaraderie and experience the contentment of being “Undeniably Bruin.”

For the first-time, UCLA Extension certificate graduates are included in the celebration which includes content sessions, tours and a welcome back to campus affinity presentation. Dean Wayne Smutz is giving a presentation on online education from 1:45 to 2:30 pm, which will detail UCLA Extension’s vision for the future of education that entails the advantages of online learning.

To enhance the Online Education Learning Beyond Westwood content session, our very own instructor Sheldon Nemoy will be demonstrating his dynamic online course, Digital Presentation I: Photoshop/Illustrator, which students have found to be one of the best online classes out there!

Class Spotlight: Digital Presentation III

Students Interested in Advanced ArchiCAD or Advanced AutoCAD are encouraged to sign up for fall quarter! Spaces are still available and the class is being offered online, a cheaper ($655) and more flexible alternative to the “on the ground” course equivalent. These do carry the prerequisite of Digitial Presentation II and/or instructor consent.

ArchicCAD (V2555) is being taught by Georgeanna Cheung. This advanced-level course continues the exploration of ArchiCAD as a design tool. Instruction focuses on developing a wider range of presentation skills through a broader palette of rendering and animation tools and increasing facility with the tools necessary for preparing construction documents in the professional environment. For technical requirements click here. Prerequisite: X 468.9 Digital Presentation II: ArchiCAD or six months’ experience with ArchiCAD. Software requirement: The most recent version of ArchiCAD. Review CAD course requirements. Enrollment limited. (September 23 – December 16)

AutoCAD (V2552) is being taugh by Shane Bartley. This continuation of Digital Presentation II: AutoCAD covers drawing and editing commands, drawing setup, layer control, dimensioning, symbol libraries, display commands, external references, attributes, and paperspace/modelspace. Students prepare a basic set of construction documents that include floor plans, elevations, sections, and details. For technical requirements click here. Prerequisite: X 468.5 Digital Presentation II: AutoCAD or consent of instructor. Software requirement: The most recent version of AutoCAD Architecture. Review CAD course requirements. Enrollment limited. (September 23 – December 16, 2009)
