Rommel Ordoyo and his award-winning project.
On March 10th, students from several schools throughout Southern California presented their best work to an esteemed panel of senior designers and industry partners at the annual IIDA Student Awards Competition.
The event showcased the range of talented students from concise presentation skills to well thought out project boards. The open presentation format allowed students to view each other’s work and gain insight to what other schools and programs are doing.
2012 Student Awards Competition
We are very proud to announce that UCLA Extension Arc_ID alumnus and MIA graduate, Rommel Ordoyo, is the 1st Place Winner of IIDA’s Student Awards Competition! This is the second time Rommel joined and won the annual IIDA SoCal Calibre Student Scholarship Competition.
Rommel’s winning entry for the Social Relevance category, the SEEDS Growing Community, is a highly sustainable center that encourages kids to grow their own produce and learn about the importance of healthy diet and nutrition. The center also has a restaurant/market component with a demo kitchen that uses the kid’s produce for its menu items and merchandise.
Rommel’s project was chosen for its purpose and value for a distressed Los Angeles area. He focuses on interior design as a means to serve and nurture the users of the space in civic, healthcare and commercial applications. He is also committed to succeed in his real estate investing business where he aims to put his interior design education to its best use.
Congratulations, Rommel!
