Announcing The Homes of Dwell on Design Los Angeles 2015
Event, Interior DesignDwell on Design will be holding three separate days of Home Tours which will take place on Saturday, May 23rd, Saturday, May 30th and Sunday, May 31st.
Each separate home tour will be focused on modern homes found in a specific area or region of Los Angeles. This year we will be covering the West Side, South Bay, and Midtown & East Side neighborhoods.

MEET THE ARCHITECTS NIGHT
Join fellow design lovers and listen to the architects speak about their challenges, inspirations, and successes in designing and building the homes featured on the tour. The Meet the Architects Night, sponsored by TOTO, will take place Thursday, May 21 and Thursday, May 28, (locations TBD) from 6:30pm to 9:30pm (presentations start promptly at 7pm).

17th Annual SoCal Student Lighting Competition – Register Today!

This year the Design Lighting Forum (DLF) challenges lighting, interior design, architecture, or engineering students to design and build a children’s bedside table lamp utilizing two different lamps for a high and low setting.
Entry into this competition is free – but limited to students currently enrolled in a design program. There are over $4,000 in cash money prizes available for the winning projects. Be sure to download the competition brochure, and then head on over the registration page to enter the competition.

As reported in the recently released 2013 Otis Report on the Creative Economy, California is home to virtually all artistic disciplines, and a focal point for innovation. The Los Angeles region has one of the highest concentrations of creative professionals in the world, and as a result, a wealth of entrepreneurial spirit and accomplishment. AWA+D’s 2014 symposium, Breaking Ground: Stories of Innovation + Success will highlight five women entrepreneurs engaged in the urban realm who have started their own practices in LA. Join us as we explore their stories of inspiration, obstacle, reward and diversity, and learn who in your backyard is helping to reinforce Los Angeles as the undisputed creative nexus of California.

SPEAKERS/PANELISTS:
Ana Henton – a principal and founder of MASS Architecture, Ana Henton is one of the most sought after architects in Los Angeles. Recognized for projects like Gold Bar in Echo Park, Intelligentsia Venice, Bacaro and Breadbar locations, her work is recognized for design quality, imagination and originality.
Rania Alomar – born in Iraq and educated in Britain before coming to Los Angeles, Rania Alomar founded RA-DA, envisioning it as a nimble and highly creative entity that tackles projects from graphic design, to interiors, to architecture. Working with a variety of clients, the firm specializes in complex programs and compound client types and continually pushes established norms.
Therese Kelly – as a licensed architect and a member of LA’s Urban Rangers, Therese Kelly is envisioning and discovering urban open spaces and mixed use projects, all with a focus on community involvement, public-private partnerships and the creation of more livable cities. She employs evocative cartographic explorations and innovative outreach tools to engage and build consensus in her projects with community, state and federal agencies.
Liz Mahlow – a principal and founder of Nous Engineering, Liz Mahlow is building a new kind of engineering practice. As a structural engineer, Liz is recognized for sophisticated engineering solutions developed through advanced structural analysis tools, application of complex structural systems, materials and fabrication technologies, all with an emphasis on collaboration.
Louisa Relia – Louisa Relia is a landscape artist, designer and planner noted for her ability to develop landscapes and elemental art that integrate her multi-disciplinary vision and involve richly layered experiences in artful and buildable forms. As a global citizen and native Australian, she seeks clients who are willing to embark on journeys of experimentation, development and refinement of design principles and ideals.
