USGBC New LEED Initiative

The USGBC is trying to place a focus on daily awareness of green performance. In order to give architect and designers a better way to manage their sustainable practices yesterday they announced the launch of the Building Performance Initiative, which will collect and analyze information about LEED certified buildings. The data will be submitted by managers and overseers of various LEED projects and collected in a central database where analysts from the USGBC then review it.

You can read more about it in Hospitality Design Magazine HERE.

USGBC Greenbuild Conference 2009

The USGBC is hosting the Greenbuild Conference & Expo in Phoenix, Arizona at Chase Field from November 11-13, 2009. In addition to a musical performance by Sheryl Crow and a speech by USGBC President Rick Fedrizzi, they have also tapped a prominent politician to be their keynote speaker – former Vice President Al Gore.

Interior Design Magazine quotes Fedrizzi as saying: “Al Gore’s impressive career and bipartisan outreach have helped elevate global climate change to the main street public consciousness. The role buildings play in our lives, our health, the economy and the global environment—including being responsible for 39 percent of the carbon emitted in the United States—means the built environment is a tremendous opportunity for us to make real change, and vice-president Gore’s keynote address will be an inspiration to the Greenbuild community to make 2010 yet another banner year for green building innovation and growth.”

Don’t miss out on this interesting and exciting conference! Early Registration Deadline is September 15. You can find pricing and registration info HERE.
