The home, although it is new, looks like it has been standing in France for more than 500 years.

California Contemporary
This 5,200 square foot masterpiece is a marriage of Palm Springs and Trans-Modern. The family friendly home delightfully means traditional contemporary and mid century with a hint of art deco. Beautiful ocean views make the home a spectacular must see.

Modernist / Contemporary Tour 3: Bubeshko Apartments

October 17, 2012

Designed by: R.M. Schindler, 1938-41

Los Angeles, CA

When: On November 18, 2012 from 11:00 am1:00 pm
Where: Silver Lake Blvd, Los Angeles, CA, USA

Rudolph Schindler designed and built two apartment buildings between 1938 and 1941 for mother-and-daughter clients. Their vision of a Silver Lake salon for artists, architects and musicians was met by Schindler’s concept of a “Greek hillside” of 5 units, each unique in size, configuration, orientation and finish.

The project to rehabilitate these buildings from years of benign neglect was one of probing their history, engaging a deep understanding of Schindler’s formative theories, his architectural intentions and their material realization without strictly freezing the project in time. We focused on the project’s DNA: its generative ideas, theories of spatial configuration, and employment of color and material to achieve those ends.

TEDxUCLA | Ideas Worth Spreading

October 15, 2012

Los Angeles, CA

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

The inaugural TEDxUCLA event took place on June 18, 2011, with the theme of Minding, Mining, Mending, Mapping.  Over 15 distinguished speakers, including the global collaboration Culturehub, took to the stage in front of a crowd of over 350 guests to share “ideas worth spreading.”

This year, TEDxUCLA will take place on October 27, 2012.  Promising a slate of engaging speakers and ideas, our second TEDxUCLA event will not be one to miss.

Stay posted on upcoming event information by following us on Twitter or on Facebook.
